Coal Data

The Kentucky Geological Survey maintains databases of coal resource information that are searchable on the Web.

The links to the right provide searches for various types of coal data including header data for coal borehole data (which are downloadable with coordinate information), coal production data for Kentucky since 1790 (source: Kentucky Department of Mines and Minerals), coal thickness data (the Kentucky Coal Resources Information System (KCRIS) database), coal quality data, and an online version of a field guide for logging core in the eastern Kentucky coal field.
